EXECUTIVE MAYOR PUTS A SMILE ON THE NEEDY AND DISADVANTAGED
The WRDM Executive Mayor, Cllr Mpho Nawa gave himself time during the festive season to feed the disadvantaged. Cllr Nawa was assisted by the municipality’s employees in ensuring that communities enjoy the festive season accordingly. Cllr Nawa gave communities from the informal settlements and rural areas in the greater Randfontein and Westonaria food parcels and clothes.
Residents from Wheatlands in Randfontein sang songs of praises when they saw the municipality’s vehicles approaching their rural area. They said they knew that an early Christmas was by their sides. They were jubilant to have been given amongst others school uniform and food parcels. One of the residents who called herself Ntswaki could not hold her tears when she saw the kids given shoes.
According to Ntswaki, the kids never had shoes and it was a problem for them when winter approaches, as they knew that the kids would go to school in extremely cold weather conditions without barefoot.
According to Cllr Nawa this is going to be an ongoing process that would assist the needy. Cllr Nawa is pleading to the community to bring along the clothes that they don’t need at the Municipality’s reception so that they can be taken to the needy and disadvantaged.
For more information on how to bring the old clothes, please contact the Executive Mayor’s office on 011 411 5002.
