.The  Executive Mayor  Cllr  Mpho Nawa took  a time  out  of  his  schedule  to  visit  all Directorates  within  the  municipality  to  engage  and  listen  to employees  on various  issues  that  affect  them. The  main  purpose  of  the  mayoral’s  visit  was  to  inspire  everybody  to work  as a unit  and do things  differently  in  2013.  All of  us  have  to  pull our  socks  and  go  an  extra  mile in  executing  our responsibility.  The  Executive mayor  emphasized  that  the  time  of  the  municipality  should  be  used  for  servicing  our  communities  and  not  for  personal  errands.  All  the  workers  were  reminded  that  they need  to  report  at  07:30 and  knock off  at  16:00. Departments  were  advised  to  meet  on  a  monthly  basis  to  discuss  pertinent  issues  relevant to  the  department.  Equally  the  Executive  Mayor  appreciated  the  positive  contribution made by  various  departments.

The  employees   were also  given an  opportunity  to   raise  issues  that  makes  them  not  to perform  optimally.  In  almost  all  departments  the  issue  of effective  communication  was  raised  as  a  gap  between  management  and  their  subordinates.

In  conclusion  the  visits  were  fruitful  and  they  opened   a  channel  of free  flow  communication  between  employees   and  the  Executive,  again  it  eased  some  tensions  that  existed  in  some  departments .  The session further  allowed  all   to  ventilate  and  exhale.  All  in  all,  2013  promised  to  be  the  year  of  delivery  if conversation   that  took  place  during  these  visits  are  anything  to go by.
